Around the world in love

Rainy season

In our last post we wrote about our first experience in Costa Rica. After Monte Verde we moves to the Caribbean coast, right into the rainy season.

We were welcomed by A LOT of rain. We feared this would not stop for our last weeks. As advised by my father we went to Tortuguero, a tropical rain forest/ jungle on the coast famous for its wild life. It was a completely different atmosphere and showed again how beautiful Costa Rica is. However it was again clearly designed for tourism.

We were convinced by some guides to do a canoe tour which was undeniably beautiful and something you shouldn’t miss there.

After Tortuguero we moved on to Cahuita. We set up our tent in a reggae bar and met a French cyclist who has done the same countries as us but over 3 years time and in a lot more detail. We opened up some coconuts, added some rum and shared adventures.

We dont have a photo with our new french friend but above, an image of an other friend we made.

Here we stayed relaxed but in fear of storm which never really came. Google weather showed us thunder every day but it came just for one evening. Rainy season is not as wet as we imagined. Here was also a beautiful park where we got in for just 2 dollar.

So it is time… TO PANAMA! (and back later) We did not have much time for Panama but Bocas Del Toro is not far from the border and very beautiful (I use this word a lot but below image will confirm it).

It’s an island group where we slept in our tent on the roof of a hostel. 4×4 meter doesn’t sound much… now put there 6 tents, that was our situation 😀 The hostel seemed like a hip place but it was inhabited by an old lady with grand children. Quite weird. Nadi says she met the grandma half naked in the women’s bathroom. :p

As crazy as this butterfly looks is how we felt on the roof with all the tents so close to us.

The beach there was once again the most beautiful of all. Imagine a mix of Jungle, palm trees, monkeys and white beach… ah and water filled with big sea stars.

Look even a mermaid

We have some time ago decided to relax and enjoy our last days as a vacation (while keeping it cheap)

All in all a success, budget under 15 euro per person per day and most of the time in one paradise or another. We have a lot of time to enjoy our new hobby, reading the bible to each other. :p People have nice reactions but so far it is an interesting book.

My backpack now. The other st reactions were “it couldn’t be worse” and the look on people’s faces when Nadi calls for me to bring the bible.
